Your Voice
What is the unique expression, you bring to your space?
How do you show up that supports yourself and others in your world?

The CWA Summit 2026 was recently held in Salt Lake City, Utah. This gathering of folks in the climbing industry is an opportunity to share, learn, network and connect with peers. Four years ago the Summit events included an event specifically for women to share their unique experience of working in the climbing industry. This year the keynote speaker offered her experience of breaking into the restaurant business, stating it was through her experiences she found her voice.
As the women around the table I was moderating introduced themselves and shared what their role is in the climbing world, I sensed a little justification that they had a right to be in the room. When everyone finished sharing, I asked, the questions above. One person responded that their expression was loyalty, another person stated passion, My own unique voice is challenge,
I bring the challenge to many group situations, whether it is work or community. I currently challenge my neighbours to improve their strength and mobility. I challenge students to be more curious and deepen their understanding, I challenge colleagues to be accountable and responsible. If you know me at all, you have probably felt the sharpness of challenge. It is this expression that has made me both an athlete and a coach.
Consider what you bring as a unique voice to the people you encounter. That is your voice.
